A(8,1) B(3,-4) C(2,k)

Since points are collinear , area will be 0

area = 1/2 [x1(y2-y3) + x2 (y3-y1) + x3(y1-y2) ]

0=1/2 [8(-4-k) + 3(k-1) + 2(1+4) ]

0 × 2 = -32-8k + 3k -3 + 10

0= -5k-25

5k = -25

k = -25/5

∴k = -5
