Solution: Since P,Q and R are collinear

Therefore , PQ + QR = PR

Using distance Formula :

PQ=√ 13

QR=√ 4+(k-1)^2

PR=√ 16+(k+2)^2

Now,√ 13 +√ 4+(k-1)^2=√ 16+(k+2)^2

Squaring both sides

13+4+k^2-2k+1 = 16+ k^2+4k+4

18-2k= 20+4k

6k= -2

k= -1/3
