Hi ,

Plz check the first term , it may be

3x³ ,

It is given that ,

P( x ) = 3x³ + kx² + 5x - 16

If P( x ) divided by ( x - 2 ) the

remainder is p ( 2 ) .

According to the problem given ,

Remainder = 8

P( 2 ) = 8

3( 2)³ + k( 2² ) + 5 ( 2 ) -16 = 8

24 + 4k + 10 - 16 = 8

18 + 4k = 8

4k = 8 - 18

k = - 10/4

k = - 5/2

I hope this helps you.
