 x-2=0

 x=2

Now, put the value of x in given p(x).

 p(2)=3(2)^3+k(2)^2+5(2)-16=-8

  24+4k+10-16=-8

 18+4k=-8

 4k=-18

 k=\frac{-18}{4 }

 k=\frac{-9}{2}

Thank You!
