x-1 = 0

x = 1

p(x) = 2x^3 - 3x^2 - kx - 2

p(1) = 2(1)^3 - 3(1)^2 - k(1) - 2

p(1) = 2 - 3 - k - 2

p(1) = 3 + k

0 = 3 + k

k = -3

Value of k is -3
