Answer:

Value of k = 6

Given Polynomial ;

p ( x ) = x³ + 4x² + x - k

( x - 1 ) is a factor

x = 1

( 1 )³ + 4 ( 1 ) ² + 1 - k

1 + 4 + 1 = k

k = 6

Answer:

(i) 3 + 4x = 3 + 4(1)

= 3 + 4 = 7

(ii) 2 + x - k = 2 + 1 - k = 0

= 3 - k = 0

k = -3
