Given Polynomial : p (x) = x² + kx

•As (x - 1) is a factor of of p(x) , therefore on putting x = 1 in the given equation , we should get 0

=> (1)² + k × 1 = 0

=> 1 + k = 0

•°• k = -1

Hence the value of k = -1
