Question:-

Find the value of k, if (x + 3) is a factor of

 {3x}^{2}  + kx + 6

Solution:-

Given,

(x + 3) is a factor of say p(x) =  {3x}^{2}  + kx + 6

Then,

 =  > x + 3 = 0 =  > x =  - 3

-3 is a root of p(x)

So,

3 {( - 3)}^{2}  + k( - 3) + 6 = 0

27 - 3k + 6 = 0

33 - 3k = 0

33 = 3k

k =  \frac{33}{3}  = 11

So, value of k is 11
