We have been told the values of x and y to be ;

  • x = 4
  • y = 2

We just need to substitute the values inti the equation given 5x + 4y = k and simplify it till only k is left with a constant proportion .

The method and operation goes in this way :

5x + 4y = k

5(4) + 4(2) = k

20 + 8 = k

k = 28

This way we can conclude that (x,y) meaning (4,2) is the solution of 5x + 4y = k .

We can verify by :

5x + 4y = 28

5(4)+4(2) = 28

20+8 = 28

28=28

LHS = RHS

\huge\sf\underline\red{☆Solution☆}

Given that x=4, y=2 is a solution of 5x +4y =k

Find the value of K

So substuite values of x,y in Equation

5(4) + 4(2) = k

20 + 8 = k

k= 28

So, Required Value of K = 28

\huge\bf{Let's  Verify!!}

5x + 4y = 28

5(4) + 4(2) = 28

20 + 8 = 28

28 = 28 Hence verified

So,Finally value of K = 28
