HERE IS YOUR ANSWER :-

Let p(X) = 4x^3 + 3x^2 - 4x + k

Let F(X) = x-1

Given that, F(X) is a factor of p(X)

Then,

F(X) = 0

=> x-1 = 0
=> X= 1

if p(X) = 4x^3 + 3x^2 - 4x +k

then ,

according to factor theorem

p(1) = 4(1)^3 + 3 (1) ^2 - 4(1) + k = 0

= 4 + 3 - 4 + k = 0

= k +3 = 0
= k = –3
