Given question -:

find the value of k if x minus 3 is a factor of P of x is equal to kx square minus x minus 15

let's try to solve the question

Given that

x - 3 \: is \: a \: factor \: of \: k {x}^{2}  - x - 15

so

x - 3 = 0 \\  x = 3

now put the value of x in given above equation

k {x}^{2}  - x - 15 = 0

{3}^{2} k - 3 + 15 = 0

9k + 12 = 0

k =  -  \frac{12} -  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  {9}

k =  -  \frac{4} -  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: {3}

Hope this will help you

Thank you ..
