As (x-1) is a factor of f(x), then by factor theorem, f(1) should be equal to 0.

Hence, reqd. equation

  = > f(1) = 0 \\ = > 5 {(1)}^{4} - 3 {(1)}^{2} + 2x + k = 0 \\ = > 5 - 3 + 2 + k = 0 \\ = > 0 + k = 0 \\ = > k = 0

Therefore, k = 0.

HOPE THIS COULD HELP!!!
