by distance formula
√(x2-x1)+(y2-y1)=8
√(2 - 4)^2+(k - 3)^2=8
√(-2)^2+k^2-6k+9=8
by squaring both the sides
4+k^2-6k+9=8
k^2-6k=-5
k^2-6k+5=0
k^2-5k-1k+5=0
k(k-5)-1(k-5)=0
therefore
k-1=0. or. k - 5 is equals to zero
k=1. or. k=5
