Note: Sorry, I don't have any pen and paper.

Given Equation is x^2 + k(2x + k - 1) + 2 = 0

                              x^2 + 2kx + k(k - 1) + 2 = 0

Given that the equation has real and equal roots.

D = 0

(2k)^2 - 4(1)(k(k - 1) + 2) = 0

4k^2 - 4(k^2 - k + 2) = 0

4k^2 - 4k^2 + 4k - 8 = 0

4k - 8 = 0

4k = 8

k = 8/4

k = 2.


Therefore the value of k = 2.
