if x-3 is factor of 2x^3 + kx^2 + 7x - 3
then x=3
replace x by 3 in p(x)
2(3)^3+k(3)^2+7(3)-3=0
2(27)+k(9) + 21-3= 0
54+9k+18=0
72+9k = 0
9k = -72
k = -72/9
k = -8
hope it helps..
