Discriminant = b² - 4ac

Equal roots, discriminant = 0




Hence, b² - 4ac = 0

=> (7k)² - 4(k)(-12) = 0

=> 49k² + 48k = 0

=> 49k² = -48k

=> 49k = -48

=> k = -48/49
