Find the value of k such that the equation (k + 4) x 2 + 2(k + 1)x + (k - 1) = 0 has equal roots.

b^2-4ac =0

from the equation a= k+4, b= 2 (k+1) =2k+2

and c = k-1

(2k+2)^2 -4 (k+4)(k-1)=0

4k^2+ 8k+4 -4(k^2+3k-4)=0

4k^2 +8k+4-4k^2-12k+16=0

-4k+20=0

-4k = -20

k= 5
