Step-by-step explanation:

x - 1 = 0

x = 1

Let \:  \:  p(x) = 0

p(x) = 4 {x}^{3}  + 3 {x}^{2}  - 4x + k

So, \: 4 {x}^{3}  + 3 {x}^{2}  - 4x + k = 0

4( 1)^{3}  + 3(1)^{2}  - 4(  1) + k = 0

4( 1) + 3(1)  -  4 + k = 0

  4 + 3  -  4 + k = 0

k + 3 = 0

k =  - 3
