(x-1) is the factor of given p(x).

we know,

x-1=0

so, x=1

Now,

putting the value of x in p(x)

we get,

(1)+9(1)-5+k = 0

1+9-5+k = 0

10-5+k = 0

5+k = 0

so, k = (-5)

Hope it helps u!!!
