Heya !!!
Given that,
( X +2) as well as ( X +1) are the factor of the given polynomial.
Therefore,
( X +2) = 0 And ( X +1) = 0
X = -2 And X = -1
P(X) = X³ + 3X² - 2MX + N
P(-2) = (-2)³ + 3 × (-2)² - 2 × M × -2 + N
=> -8 + 3 × 4 + 4M + N = 0
=> 4M + N + 8 -12 = 0
=> 4M + N = -4 ----------(1)
Also,
X = -1
P(-1) = (-1)³ + 3 × (-1)² - 2M × -1 + N
=> -1 + 3 + 2M + N => 0
=> 2M + N + 2 = 0
=> 2M + N = -2 --------(2)
From equation (1) we get,
4M + N = -4
N = -4 - 4M --------(3)
Putting the value of N in equation (2)
2M + N = -2
2M + ( -4 - 4M ) = -2
2M -4 - 4M = -2
-2M = -2+4
-2M = -2
M = 2/2
M = 1
Putting the value of M in equation (3)
N = 2 - 4M = 2 - 4 × 1
N = 2 - 4
N = -2
Hence,
M = 1 and N = -2
