Find the Value of m and n if two equations are given as :-

• 4m + 9n = 42
• 9m + n = 21

Solution : --

• 4m + 9n = 42 ......1)
• 9m + n = 21 .......2)

• From equation ...2)

›› 9m + n = 21

›› n = 21 - 9m ....3)

• Substituting value of n in equation 1)

›› 4m + 9n = 42

›› 4m + 9(21 - 9m) = 42

›› 4m + 189 - 81m = 42

›› - 77m = 42 - 189

›› - 77m = -147

›› m = 147/77

›› m = 21/11

• Substituting value of m in Equation 3)

›› n = 21 - 9m

›› n = 21 - 9 × 21/11

›› n = 21 - 189/11

›› n = (231 - 189)/11

›› n = 42/11

• Value of m = 21/11 and value of n = 42/11
