M is a number which when subtracted from the value of y 2 times makes y -1 its factor.

so , y-1=y2-m

=>y-1+m=y2

=>y-m=y2+1

=>y-m=y3

=>y-m/y=3

=>m=>3

applying to statement:-

Let y be 2

so, 2-1=2×2-3

=>1=1

hence is a factor of 1.

Hope it helped u buddy...

Thank you...
