For equal roots Descrimnant ( D ) must be equal to 0
D = √{ ( 1 + m )² - 4 ( 4 + m ) } = 0
Squaring both sides
( 1 + m )² - 16 - 4m = 0
m² -2m -15 = 0
m = 2 + √ 4 + ( 60 ) / 2 =5
or
m = 2 - √ ( 4 + 60 ) / 2 = -3
So, Value if m are 5 and -3
