Step-by-step explanation:

Question

  • find the value of m-n if m+n is equal to 7 and mn is equal to 12

Given

  • m + n = 7
  • mn = 12

Answer

We know that,

 {(a - b)}^{2}  =  {(a + b)}^{2}  - 4ab

Here, a = m and b = n

So,

 {(m - n)}^{2}  =   {(m + n)}^{2}  - 4mn

As, m + n = 7 and mn = 12

Substituting the values,

 {(m - n)}^{2}  =  {7}^{2}   - 4(12)

 {(m - n)}^{2}  = 49 - 48

 {(m - n)}^{2}  = 1

( m - n) =  \sqrt{1}

m - n = 1

Therefore, the value to m -n = 1
