(-3)^n+1 × (-3)^5 = (-3) ^9
(-3)^(n+1+5) = (-3)^9 [since, a^m + a^n = a^(m+n)]
Since bases are the same powers can be equated......

Hence, n+1+5 = 9
n+6 = 9
Hence, n = 3

There ya go pal....
Hope it helped

(-3)
 { - 3}^{r} \times { - 3} \times { - 3}^{5} = { - 3}^{9} \\ { - 3}^{r} = { - 3}^{9 - 5 - 6} \\ =r = 3
