Step-by-step explanation:

Let the roots are α & β

As per given data β = 6α => roots are α & 6α

Given, quadratic equation is px² – 14x + 8 = 0

=> sum of roots = -b/a

=> α + 6α = -(-14) / p

=> 7α = 14 / p

=> α = 2 / p ------------- (1)

and product of roots = c/a

=> α x 6α = 8 / p

=> 6α² = 8 / p

=> 6(2/p)² = 8 / p

=> 6x4 / p² = 8 / p

=> p² / p = 24 / 8

=> p = 3
