Find the value of p for which the quadratic equation x(x-4)+p=0 has real roots.

x(x-4) + p =0

x2 -4x +p =0

as there  are real and equal roots

b2 - 4ac =0

(-4)^2 -(4* 1* p)=0

16 -  4p =0

16=4p

therefore p=4

for real and ditinct roots

16 -4p> 0

16>4p

4>p

therefore p<4
