GOOD MORNING!!

For Equal roots Descrimnant = 0

Given Quadratic Equation is

4x² + (p - 2)x + 1 = 0

Descrimnant (D) of given Quadratic Equation is (p - 2)² - 4 (4) (1)

D = + 4 - 4p - 16

D = 0 For Equal roots.

So,

- 4p - 12 = 0

- 6p + 2p - 12 = 0

p ( p - 6 ) + 2 ( p - 6 ) = 0

( p + 2 ) × ( p - 6 ) = 0

p = -2 OR p = 6

So, Possible values of p are -2 and 6

Anonymous: Your Question should be like this 4x² + (p - 2 )² + 1 = 0
Anonymous: sorry like this 4x² + (p-2)x + 1 = 0
