Find the value of P if the point A(2,3) B(4,P)C(6,-3) are collinear



solve using Distance Formula

Answer:

Points A(2,3),B(4,P) and C(6,−3) are collinear.

Area of triangle having vertices A, B and C=0

Area of a triangle = 1/2[x1 (y2-y3)+x2 (y3-y1) +x3 (y1-y2)]

Area of given ΔABC=0

⇒ 1/2 [2{p-(-3)} +4(-3-3) +6(3-p)] =0

⇒2p+6−24+18−6p=0

⇒−4p=0

or p=0

The value of p is zero.
