px2−8x+2p=0 

here, a=p,b=−8,c=2p

For equal roots b2−4ac=0

or, (−8)2−4(p)(2p)=0

or, 64−8p2=0

or, −8p2=−64

or, 8p2=64

or, p2=864=8

or, p=±8=±22
