find the value of p if x=2, y=3 is a solution of 6x+2p+y=42

Substitute x and y values in the equation
6(2)+2p+3=42
12+2p+3=42
2p+15=42
2p=42-15
2p=27
Therefore p=13.5 or 27/2.
