Correct Question

find the value of p if (x+3) is a factor of the polynomial 2x³ - 3x² + p = 0

Solution

Given :-

  • Polynomial , 2x³ - 3x² + p = 0 -----equ(1)
  • (x+3) is a factor of this polynomial

Find :-

  • Value of p

Explanation

We know,

If given any equation, ax² + bx + c = 0

& (x+q) is factor of this equation.

It means that,

Value of x = -q , exits of this equation .

Like that, x = -3 , exits equ(1)

So, keep value of x in this equation (1)

==> 2 * (-3)³ - 3*(-3)² + p = 0

==> 2 * (-27) - 3 * 9 + p = 0

==> -54 - 27 + p = 0

==> p = -81

Hence

  • Value of p will be = -81
