If x=0 then (0-1)=-1
lf x=1then (1-1)=0
lf x=2 then (2-1)=1

no this answer is wrong in the following question. The last one is 2^2-1=4-1=3
how but
see if we multiply (x+1) with (x-1) as given in the question the answer comes ot to be x^2 -1

p(x)=(x-1)(x+1)={(a+b)(a-b)=a^2-b^2}==x^2-1
p(0)=0-1=-1
p(1)=1-1=0
p(2)=4-1=3
