If (x+a) is a factor of the polynomial x^3+ax^2-2x+a+6

When we divide this polynomial by (x+a) we get remainder as (3a+6) and quotient as x^2-2

Since, we know that remainder is zero,

Equate (3a+6) to 0

=> 3a+6=0

=> 3a=-6

=> a= -6/3

=> a= -2.....
