We have to find the shape factor F₁_₁, for cylindrical cavity of diameter 10cm and height 15cm as shown in figure.

solution : shape factor for cylindrical cavity of diameter D and height H is given by, F₁_₁ = 4H/(4H + D).

here H = 15 cm , D = 10 cm

so, F₁_₁ = 15 × 4/(15 × 4 + 10)

= 60/70

= 0.857

Therefore the shape factor would be 0.857. i.e., option (b) 0.857
