Each polynucleotide chain consists of a string of nucleotides linked by phosphodiester bonds. A DNA chain consists of nucleotides joined by bonds between phosphate and sugar (= phosphodiester bonds). One end of the chain ends with a phosphate linked to the 5' carbon of the sugar and is called the 5' end.

 \alpha = 45

 \sin( \alpha ) + \cos( \alpha )

 \sin(45) + \cos(45)

 \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} } + \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} } = \frac{2}{ \sqrt{2} } = \sqrt{2 } = 1.414

1.414 is the answer.
