a+2+3 = 3a + 1

a + 5 = 3a - 1

subtracting a from both sides

5=2a - 1

adding 1 to both sides

6 = 2a

dividing both sides by 2

a= 3

hence proved

you can go more simpler by not writing the steps and taking values from the left hand side to right hand side and vice versa but always with their sign changed

Answer:

a + 2+3 = 3a + 1

a + 5 = 3a + 1

a - 3a = 1 - 5

- 2a = -4

2a = 4

a = 4/2

a = 2

I hope this will be helpful ..
