Answer:

 {3x}^{2} + 7x - 8 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: (x = - 2) \\ {3( - 2)}^{2} + 7( - 2) - 8 \\ 12 - 14 - 8 \\ - 10 \\ {3x}^{2} + 7x - 8 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: (x = 5) \\ 3 {(5)}^{2} + 7(5) - 8 \\ 75 + 35 - 8 \\ 102

1) \: \: \: \: x = - 2

 = 3 {x}^{2} + 7x - 8

 = 3 {( - 2)}^{2} + 7( - 2) - 8

 = 3(4) - 14 - 8

 = 12 - 22

 = - 10

2) \: \: \: \: x = 5

 = 3 {x}^{2} + 7x - 8

 = 3( {5)}^{2} + 7(5) - 8

 = 3(25) + 35 - 8

 = 75 + 27

 = 102
