proportion then we can write them as

a:b::b:c ≈ b²= ac

To find the fourth proportional number.

As we know,

A:B::B:C

15:45::45:X

15 = 45

45 x

By cross multiplication,

15 × x = 45 × 45

x = 45 × 45

15

x = 135

Hence, the fourth proportional number

is 135.

20:x::x:2000

20 = x

x 2000

By cross multiplication,

20× 2000 = x × x

20 × 2000 = x²

√ 40000 = x
