If this is your question, then this is its answer :

\sqrt{10} + \frac{\sqrt{2} }{2} = 3.869384441

          = 3.869 (3 d.p )

since √10 = 3.162 and √2 = 1.414

Now

= 3.162 + 1.414/2

= (6.324 + 1.414)/2

= 7.738/2

= 3.869
