In ∆ABC,

AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2 (Hypotenuse theorem, angleB = 90°)

3^2 + 4^2 = AC^2

9 + 16 = AC^2

AC^2 = 25

AC = 5 = xcm

In ∆CAD,

AD^2= DC^2 - AC^2

AD^2 = 13^2 - 5^2

AD^2 = 169 - 25

AD = 12= ycm
