squaring both sides
(x-1/x)^2= 16
x^2-(1/x)^2 -2.x.(1/x)=16
x^2-1/x^2 - 2=16
x^2-1/x^2=18
squaring both sides

x^2-(1/x)^2 -2.x.(1/x)=16
x^2-1/x^2 - 2=16
x^2-1/x^2=18
