because it is an identity
a^2 + b^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 .... 1
same for minus
a^2 - b^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2 .... 2
then
a^4 + b^4 = (a^2 + b^2) ( a^2 - b^2)
from 1 and 2 the final answer will be the question
