2x - 3y - 1 = 0. (eq 1)

x + 2y - 4 = 0. (eq 2)

2x - 3y - 1 = 0
x + 2y - 4 = 0
(-) (-) (+)
x + y + 5
x=5 - y

Substitute x = 5 - y in eq 1 , we get

2 (5 - y ) - 3y - 1 = 0

10 - 2y - 3y - 1 = 0

10 - y - 1 = 0

9 - y = 0

y = -9

Place y = -9 in eq 2 , we get

x + 2 × (-9) - 4 = 0

x - 18 - 4 = 0

x - 22 = 0

x = 22

Hence , the value of x and y is

x = 22

y = -9
