Answer:

The value of x and y is 7.39 and 9.91 respectively

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equations,

  • \dfrac{x}{2}+\dfrac{y}{3}=7 -------------(i)
  • \dfrac{x}{5}-\dfrac{y}{4}=-1 ------------(ii)

In equation (i),

\dfrac{x}{2}+\dfrac{y}{3}=7

\dfrac{3x+2y}{6}=7

3x + 2y = 42

Multiply above Eqn by 5, it becomes

15x + 10y = 210 ---------------(iii)

In equation (i),

\dfrac{x}{5}-\dfrac{y}{4}=-1

\dfrac{4x-5y}{20}=-1

4x - 5y = -20

Multiply Eqn by 2, it becomes

8x - 10y = -40 ---------------(iv)

Now, add both Eqn (iii) and (iv), it gives-

23x = 170

x = 7.39

put the value of x in eqn (iii),

3(7.39) + 2y = 42

y = 9.91
