I am using substitution method here,

x-y=10 --------------equation 1

x+y=2----------------equation 2

In equation 1

x-y=10

x=10+y---------------equation 3

Substituting the value of x in equation 2

x+y=2

10+y+y=2

10+2y=2

2y=2-10

2y=-8

y= -8/2

y= -4

Substituting the value of y in equation 3

x= 10+y

x=10+(-4)

x=10-4

x=6

Hence, x=6 and y= -4.
