Let them be in series then,

resistence(a) = (10 + x)ohm

resistence(b) = (25 + 75) = 100ohm

Now they are in parallel so,

total \: resistence =  \frac{1}{a}  +  \frac{1}{b}

given \: total \: resistence = 20ohm

so,replacing the values we get,

20 =  \frac{1}{10 + x}  +  \frac{1}{100}

\implies20 =  \frac{100 + 10 + x}{100(10 + x)}

\implies20(1000 + 10x) = 110 + x

\implies20000 + 200x = 110 + x

\implies19890 + 199x = 0

\implies \: x = 100ohm(approx)
