Find the value of x for which 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 = 2^x - 1.​

=1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16  =  {2}^{x}  - 1

 = 31 =  {2}^{x}  - 1

 = 31 + 1 =  {2}^{x}

 = 32 =  {2}^{x}

 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 =  {2}^{x}

 =  {2}^{5}  =  {2}^{x}

x= 5
