Given numbers are (x - 4), (6x - 2) and (2x + 7)

Since, they are in AP,

(6x - 2) - (x - 4) = (2x + 7) - (6x - 2)

↠ 6x - 2 - x + 4 = 2x + 7 - 6x + 2

↠ 5x + 2 = - 4x + 9

↠ 5x + 4x = 9 - 2

↠ 9x = 7

↠ x = \frac{7}{9}

Therefore, x = \frac{7}{9}
