Answer :

x = 2

Solution :

  • Given : 3x² - 2x - 8 = 0
  • To find : Integral solution

Firstly ,

Let's find the solutions (roots) of the given quadratic equation using middle term splitting method .

Thus ,

=> 3x² - 2x - 8 = 0

=> 3x² - 6x + 4x - 8 = 0

=> 3x(x - 2) + 4(x - 2) = 0

=> (x - 2)(3x + 4) = 0

=> x = 2 , -4/3

=> x = 2 (appropriate value)

Note : x = -4/3 is rejected value as it is not an integer .

Hence , x = 2 .

Answer:

According to the Given Question :

⇒ 3x² - 2x - 8 = 0

⇒ 3x² - (6 - 4)x - 8 = 0

⇒ 3x² - 6x + 4x - 8 = 0

⇒ 3x(x - 2) + 4(x - 2) = 0

⇒ (3x + 4)(x - 2) = 0

⇒ (3x + 4) = 0⠀⠀or,⠀⠀(x - 2) = 0

x = - 4/3⠀⠀or,⠀⠀x = 2

But here x is only integer.

Hence, required value of x is 2.
